Welcome to the Pain Institute of Tampa, owned and operated by Dr. John Barsa, M. D. We appreciate and value your choice to seek consultation about your pain problem from us. We also value and appreciate the fact that your health care provider has referred you, and trusts us to provide you with quality and comprehensive pain management care and services.
In our efforts to provide you the highest quality of care, we need to collect as much information as possible with regards to your medical and pain problem history. We request that you obtain the most up-to-date records about your care from your primary care provider and any other treating health care providers so that we can get an optimal understanding of your health status. Please also obtain the most up-to-date diagnostic studies/tests which relate to your pain problem(chief complaint). This may include but is not limited to: x-rays, labs, CT scans, MRI studies, nerve conduction studies, and thermography. If these records are unavailable or the appropriate diagnostic tests have not been performed, and are deemed necessary, your care may be delayed until they are obtained, performed, and reviewed.
Please note that we do not guarantee that we will assume the same plan of care provided to you by another provider. For example, if you are prescribed certain medications by another provider, such as Oxycontin, and we do not feel it is appropriate, we will suggest an alternative plan of care. You can then make a decision on whether or not you wish for us to take over your pain management treatment. We are highly skilled and trained, and make our own treatment recommendations and determinations. If you disagree, you have the choice to seek treatment and consultation elsewhere.
If we feel that we cannot be of assistance, we will do our best to refer you to the appropriate healthcare providers. We look forward to seeing you, and hope that your experience at the Pain Institute of Tampa is an exceptional one.
